When to book a chimney cleaning

If you burn wood regularly, soot and creosote can collect along the flue and smoke chamber. Tell us when the chimney was last cleaned, how often you use it, and whether you have noticed smoky odors or debris in the firebox. An inspection determines whether routine sweeping is enough or another problem needs attention.

What happens during the visit

We protect the fireplace area with drop cloths and use HEPA vacuum equipment while brushing accessible deposits from the flue and smoke chamber. The included Level-1 visual inspection checks readily accessible components; it does not provide the same view of the flue interior as a separately scoped camera inspection.

Cleaning versus glazed-creosote removal

Loose deposits and hard, shiny buildup need different approaches. If inspection finds glazing, we explain the condition and quote specialist creosote removal rather than treating it as a routine sweep. Cleaning also does not repair a cracked liner, damaged firebox, or leaking roof connection.

Prepare for your Dayton appointment

Let the fireplace cool completely before the visit, move furniture and decorations away from the hearth, and provide access to the fireplace and any appliance information. Mention smoke entering the room when booking so we can discuss fireplace and draft troubleshooting. Call (937) 932-2778 or select chimney cleaning in the form to request an appointment.

Questions we get a lot

How often does a chimney really need to be cleaned?

Arrange an annual inspection and have the chimney cleaned as its condition and use require. Tell us how often you burn wood and when it was last serviced so we can assess whether routine sweeping is appropriate.

Can I clean my chimney myself?

A brush kit does not replace assessment of the flue, liner, crown, and cap. Hardened or glazed deposits may require a specialist approach selected for the liner condition. Ask for an inspection if you do not know what is inside the chimney.

How long does a chimney sweep take?

A standard single-flue sweep and inspection takes about 45 minutes to an hour. Heavy creosote or a second flue can add time, and we'll tell you before we start.

Will sweeping make a mess in my house?

No. We seal the fireplace opening, run a HEPA vacuum throughout, and put down drop cloths. The goal is that you can't tell we were there except for a cleaner chimney.

Get your chimney ready before you light the first fire.
