Questions we get a lot

Does a gas fireplace need to be swept?

It needs annual service, which is not quite the same thing. Gas leaves less soot but it does leave deposits, and the vent, logs, pilot assembly, and damper all need checking. Skipping it is the most common mistake we see in newer Centerville homes.

My fireplace smells in the summer. Why?

Warm humid air hitting creosote and soot on the flue walls, then getting pushed back into the room by a house that is under negative pressure from the AC. A sweep removes the source. A top-sealing damper handles the airflow half.

What is included in the free inspection?

A Level-1 visual check of the flue, liner, firebox, damper, crown, and cap, plus a photo report of everything we find and a priority list — safety first, cosmetic last. No obligation to book any repair.

Do you work on both the older Far Hills homes and the newer subdivisions?

Both. The older streets are mostly masonry flues that need liner and crown attention; the newer builds near Yankee Trace are mostly gas and prefab units that need annual service. Different work, same visit structure.
